Innovating Series Episode 2

The journey of evolving is an exciting one, which clearly distinguishes between the process of innovating and the innovations themselves: an innovation is one of the possible outcomes of innovating, and innovating is the process to get through.

If we are not clear about this, it happens all too often that we abandon the process of innovating and look for the shortcut of finding innovations directly.

The path of innovating is nourished by deep learning about a problem, its exploration and diversification, with the ultimate goal of materializing ideas that generate a tangible and real impact.

When abandoning the path of innovating, the tendency is to confuse ideas with innovations. Hare-brained ideas, on too many occasions, make us go through the “solution looks for problem”, causing us to waste time and resources.

The only way to ensure impact is to focus on real problems. By focusing on them, we begin to understand that innovations are almost never novel at the beginning of the process.
